Columbia, Illinois (April 25, 2019) – Fresh from his first career Nitro Funny Car win, Allan Middendorf heads to Funny Car Chaos this weekend at Mo-Kan Dragway with a new confidence.
“After getting my first win and nabbing the No. 1 qualifier spot in Denton (Texas) a few weeks ago, I’m going into the next Funny Car Chaos race a little bit calmer and confident. I find that I’m now more at ease and comfortable in the seat of the Funny Car,” said Middendorf. “I have the best crew working on the car and helping me, and I know we have what it takes to win again.”
Middendorf is the owner and driver of the Allan Middendorf Racing entry: The American Outlaw. He rolls into the Funny Car Chaos event in Asbury, MO as the series points leader and it’s a position he wants to hold on to all season on the road to the championship.
“My win in Denton was only my 40th run ever down a track since I was introduced to drag racing. It’s still unbelievable to me. I actually got pretty emotional on the trip home as I looked at my trophy,” recalled Middendorf “I had a little talk with my car the other day and we are ready to take home another win.”
The Funny Car Chaos action starts Friday, April 26th at 5 p.m. CT when Funny Car Test and tune gets underway, followed by qualifying sessions at 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday is the main event with one more qualifying session at 2 p.m. followed by eliminations beginning at 4:00.
Allan Middendorf Racing is also a sponsor of the “Second Round Shootout” happening on Saturday. For the teams that do not make the top 16, they will compete in this bonus round that includes: Low Elapsed Time, Quickest Reaction Time and Best Burnout.
“I want to get a win for my team, but I also want to put on a great show for the fans. If it wasn’t for the fans, there wouldn’t be a race this weekend.”
